Engagement photography session - big cork vineyards - Rohrersville, Maryland
This mid-September engagement session at Big Cork Vineyards was such a fun session! When I schedule sessions with clients, I look at sun charts and sunset/sunrise times before suggesting times for different scenarios at different locations. The couple chose Big Cork because it’s a good representation of the hills and mountains in the area, which is close to where they live! They also wanted to experience a sunset, so we planned for a sunset session.
The entire car ride to Big Cork Vineyards I was stressing about the sun! The mountains in the area can block the golden sunrays before you can see the golden hour! So every shady part of my commute to the vineyard made me terrified that the sun had disappeared too soon.
Trey and I met the couple in the very sunny parking lot at Big Cork. My worries proved to be silly (as usual) and we had plenty of time to soak in the beautiful sunset. We started the engagement session in the sunflower garden near the pond, which was such an unexpected bonus. The sun was beaming through haze. There were happy little bees flying around. The golden sunflowers nestled the couple and I love the photos we took here!
From there we headed away from the pond and to the hills where we stomped through pokey vegetation for some fun photos. The sun was beautiful from the haze. As it started to set, we
moved to the top of the hill near the vineyard to catch the sun’s last moments… and WOW! I’ve never photographed a sunset in Maryland like this before! I was soaking it up! We ended down close to the pond, before heading back to the parking lot to get the last few night photos.
The couple was an absolute blast to work with. Their smiles were so infectious. Trey and I laughed and smiled just as much behind the cameras.
I think it’s pretty easy to see why Big Cork Vineyards is one of my favorite venues close to home!
