Wedding photography - mountain memories at thorpewood
One of the things that I love most about photographing weddings is getting to spend my time at such awesome places like Mountain Memories at ThorpeWood. This venue is located outside of Thurmont, Maryland in the beautiful Catoctin Mountains. The couple's summer wedding took full advantage of the beautiful land, green gardens, and shaded historic wooden framed lodge. Combine those things with such an awesome and fun couple, I was thrilled to help document their special journey together.
What a journey they had! The COVID pandemic put a wrench into a lot of couple’s original wedding plans, and this couple was not spared. Instead of getting married at Mountain Memories at ThorpeWood in 2020 as planned, this awesome couple got hitched in the backyard of the bride’s childhood home near Silver Spring, Maryland. The only ones in attendance were their immediate family, a good friend to marry them, their dog, and me.
Two years later, they finally got to celebrate their marriage with all their good friends, family, and their young daughter by their side. The couple was pretty relaxed—after all, they were already married! They got ready at a local hotel before I arrived, but then it was pretty much game time.
First was a beautiful vowel renewal. Butterflies fluttered around as they expressed their love and dedication to each other. Tears and laughter were shared by everyone. Immediately after, a baby naming ceremony was held to announce the Hebrew name of their precious baby girl. Then the owner of the property drove us around to take advantage of all the different locations available for photos. It was a hot day, so we moved pretty fast so the couple could get back to the cabin and relax for a moment before more fun began.
Soon it was time to eat and then head downstairs to party! The bride had her special dance with her father, as the groom simultaneously danced with their baby daughter. *insert happy tears*
Next came the Hora and that really pumped energy into the room. Then at the father of the bride’s request, the men attending the wedding came together for an unplanned (and unchoreographed) dance to The Weather Girl’s hit song “It’s Raining Men.” To conclude the wedding, the bride and groom had a S’mores bar setup around the fire pit. It was such a wonderful day.
I’m so happy I was able to photograph their intimate wedding in 2020 and their vowel renewal in 2022. I look forward to the renewal of their vowel in 2 years (I kid, but I would totally be there).
