Wedding Photography - (BMI) Baltimore Museum of Industry - baltimore, maryland
Can we talk about a venue that I once only dreamed about shooting in? That's exactly what the Baltimore Museum of Industry (BMI) in Baltimore, Maryland was for me for the longest time. When I started Ashley Jayde Photography more than 10 years ago, BMI was at the top of my bucket list of wedding venues I wanted to photograph.
I grew up in a suburb of Baltimore and spent much of young adult life around or in Charm City. Memories of family gatherings, good food, and concerts flood me whenever I am in Baltimore. But I think my love for the Baltimore Museum of Industry (and many others) came from looking at locations for my own wedding, about a billion years ago.
This wedding was super special because old lives collided with new ones! This beautiful bride is the sister of one of the closest friends I had in high school. If you would have told me in the early 2000s that I would be photographing their sister’s wedding, I probably wouldn’t have believed it. I was an avid film photographer then, but I wasn’t sure what photography path I was going to take as I got older–but I surely didn’t think being a wedding photographer was going to be it! I digress.
So these two lovebirds got married in January, which was a completely different feel than their engagement session in Annapolis. It was a little chilly, but not the worst weather for being in the middle of winter. The couple got ready at the Hilton Inner Harbor in Baltimore, MD. The Hilton Inner Harbor hotel has a balcony overlooking the iconic Oriole Park at Camden Yards which was a perfect location for the couple’s first look.
From there we headed over to the Baltimore Museum of Industry for the wedding ceremony and reception. Bosley, the couple’s adorable furbaby, was there waiting for us to take photos around the property. There are so many GREAT locations inside and outside of BMI. SO. MANY. UNIQUE. LOCATIONS. Well, you’ll see what I’m talking about in the photos below. Since it was January, we stayed indoor for most of the bride and groom portraits until the sun started going down. We transitioned outside just after sunset to capture the Baltimore Domino Sugar sign.
Everything about this wedding sung to my soul: old friends, great people, a colorful event space in Baltimore City, and getting to pet a dog.
